Haven't posted for about a millennium
I've just realised I haven't posted anything for a long long time. I apologise! I have been drawing (I have about five pages of sketches done during the recent run of Alice in Wonderland ready to scan) but I've just been ridiculously busy. I'm working on a Book Week costume at the mo, along with other stuff, and it is very tricky. (In case you were wondering - Rosalind Butler from Magruder's Curiosity Cabinet). Again, I apologise!
Sudden realisation
So. Tiffany Aching's (Discworld) name means "Land Under Wave" in the old Feegle speech. And the land under the wave is the Chalk, right?
I think not.
Or at least, not only.
So, I was rereading Lord of Shadows last night (great book, I want to hug Mark and Kieran, and then I want them to hug each other), and it turns out that another name for Elfland (Faerieland, whatever) is . . .
The Land Beneath The Wave.
There's no way Pterry didn't know about this.
Coincidence? I think not.
(Heheh, I've always wanted to say that.)
I'm back! Did you miss me?
Sorry about the insanely long vanishing act - my laptop fried and died and I only just got a new one. I'll be posting again soon!
Imagining links where none exist
So I just finished reading Borne by Jeff Vandermeer. Great book. It's kind of sci-fi dystopia with a giant bear. Great stuff.
The weirdest thing? It kind of reminded me of a darker, more adult Assassination Classroom.
In Borne, they have to destroy the giant bear. In Assassination Classroom, it's Koro.
But it's not just that.
Rachel and Wick are Karma and Nagisa, respectively.
The Magician is Shiro (gah, I hate that guy's guts). That makes Itona, and probably Ritsu, one of the feral children (the Magician's bioengineered child soldiers).
Mord is a much nastier Koro-sensei.
And Borne? I think Borne is Class 3-E, growing up and learning
